This read-a-thon serves as my 11th anniversary! I started participating in this read-a-thon in April of 2009! Boy, has time changed. I flipped through images of read-a-thon’s past and discovered I’ve gone through 5-6 reading chairs (I’m picky about my reading spots. Apparently so are my cats). I did used to stay up and read for 24 hours, but for the last several years I’ve been reading until I’m tired and then I just stop. Typically, I get through about 5 books per read-a-thon.
Other traditions remain. For snacks, we ALWAYS have cinnamon rolls for breakfast and Totino’s pizza rolls for lunch. The snacks that come in between change up, but it’s nice having those constants. Also, my boys were so little when I started (10 and 3!) and now they are HUGE young men! While they don’t participate any longer, they do understand what it means when I say “It’s read-a-thon day!” Essentially, stay quiet and don’t bug Mom :).
I’ve been working on my TBR stack all week. It’s changed quite a bit. I used to be able to rely on the library, but ours has been closed for some time due to the pandemic. Thankfully, I can still borrow ebooks through OverDrive and Hoopla. Additionally, I’ve added some books I already own and copies I have for review consideration.
For now, here is my TBR stack!
Are you participating in the read-a-thon? There is still time to sign up! You don’t have to have a blog; you can participate via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more!
